Christoph - Trainee eMobility

The opportunity to shape the future of mobility and logistics – this is what MAN offers in the development of alternative drives. I have been a MAN Trainee in the Complete Vehicle Engineering department with a focus on electromobility since May 2016.

How I came to MAN

Four years ago, I applied for an internship in vehicle testing at MAN while studying for my bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. During this time, I had the opportunity to get up close to the trucks and learn all about them as a product. For me, the highlight was getting to spend a week helping out with the summer trials. Under the heat of the Spanish sun, the vehicles underwent rigorous testing and checks before being released for series production. From that moment on, I was gripped by truck fever. After my internship, I was accepted onto the MAN Study Sponsorship Scheme, which gave me the opportunity to complete a placement abroad at the MAN Latin America site in Resende, Brazil. Following on from my master’s degree in automotive and commercial vehicle engineering, MAN’s training program was the perfect stepping stone into the professional world.

What I like about the MAN Trainee Program

After discussing it with my mentor, I can decide for myself which stations I want to work at during my trainee program. Of course, I mainly focus on areas and projects that relate to electromobility. This enables me to not only learn a great deal about the various technical engineering solutions, but also to find out more about the product management department’s future eMobility strategies or the sales department’s plans for new business models, for example. I have already forged a large number of contacts through this work – I’m sure that these will be incredibly helpful for my work in future. The trainee program is rounded off with additional modules, such as a placement abroad for several months, or the opportunity to take part in a wide range of seminars in the MAN Academy training centre.

What motivates me

The prospect of being able to see the first fully electric MAN trucks driving on the roads before long motivates me each and every day. I am proud to take on responsibility at MAN and to help shape the future of mobility and logistics.

Lara - Trainee Cab Production

At the start of my trainee program at MAN, I had the opportunity to visit the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair with the trainee team. At the event, we had the chance to get up close to the new MAN products – and even to sit in the various cabs. My highlight was the new interior and exterior design of the TG – an appearance as strong as a lion.
