Anne-Kathrin - Trainee HR Innovation

As a Trainee in the field of HR Innovation 4.0, I am discovering the personnel management strategies of the future. In my report, you will discover why our trainee program is the perfect stepping stone for young graduates with team spirit, individual responsibility and a thirst for knowledge.

I have been working at MAN as a Trainee for ten months now – and I’ve been a proud ‘lion’ from day one! What is it that I think makes our trainee program special? The unique layout and a strong network!

Together, my mentor and I customised my trainee program in line with my specialisms and personal interests. Over the fifteen months of the program, I now get to enjoy a wide variety of insights into ongoing personnel management projects. I provide strategic support to the executive office and operational support in the area of personnel development, as well as assisting with agile project management in HR Innovation as well as in IT matters. Through these activities, our individual development is supported not just through the experiences we gain at the individual trainee stations, but also through a range of training sessions on topics such as project management, dialogue mediation and customer orientation. One of my personal highlights in recent months was the week I spent in the Production department. I had the opportunity to get stuck in alongside our Production employees and experience the creation of our products first-hand!

Across the different trainee stations, we forge valuable contacts in a range of specialist areas. Another important part of our network is our Trainee Community. We work together closely on joint projects, but we also enjoy meeting up for after-work social events or team-building weekends – both within and outside the company! For example, we held a networking week in April together with trainees from Scania, VWN and VWTB. Events like these give us a fascinating insight into the other brands in our holding company and spark interesting discussions on a wide range of topics. I am also currently completing my placement abroad at Scania in Sweden. I will continue to benefit from this network even after my trainee program has ended.

At the start of my trainee program at MAN, I had the opportunity to visit the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair with the trainee team. At the event, we had the chance to get up close to the new MAN products – and even to sit in the various cabs. My highlight was the new interior and exterior design of the TG – an appearance as strong as a lion.
