Pre-production centre, MAN Truck & Bus in Munich
How I arrived at MAN
I came across MAN on the internet, and applied online. I wanted to do a dual degree, either near where I lived or in Munich. I come from North Rhine Westphalia, but Munich is a cool city. So I moved, prompted by the apprenticeship and the cool company.
What I currently do at MAN
I am switching between studying for three months at the University of Heidenheim and three months in the company working on projects. At MAN I am working in the pre-production centre for buses. In the projects we follow the construction of prototypes and are responsible for ensuring that production can later on be implemented, and for working out how this will be achieved.
What I am particularly proud of
That I opted for a dual degree, and that I have come so far in my studies. I can directly apply what I learn at the university in the company and can see what is feasible. And that I have had the confidence as a woman to work in a male profession. You do have to fight a little for recognition, but I often have it easier than the men (laughs).
Why I like working at MAN:
I joint this department by pure coincidence, and now I am really happy here. The work is just what I was looking for and my colleagues are friendly and there is no dumb talk about women and technology.
